In Biblical times it was quite common to recite Psalms to give thanks unto the Lord. Some of the most famous ones composed by King David, not only gave thanks, they were a request for help and deliverance, even from his enemies. Use them to release some of your pain or anguish or to put your anxiety to rest.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; they rod and they staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek they face, O Jacob. Selah.
Lift up your head, O ye gates; and be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Life up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the Kind of glory shall come in.
Who is this Kind of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy loving-kindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, not my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness; sake, O Lord.
Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will He teach sinners in the way.
The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach his way.
All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity, for it is great.
What man is he that feareth the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.
Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn the unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
O keep my soul and deliver me: Let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in Thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me: for I wait on Thee.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide.
Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
For Thy loving-kindness is before mine eyes; and I have walked in Thy truth.
I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.
I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass Thine altar, O Lord: that I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all Thy wonderous works.
Lord, I have loved the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thine honor dwelleth.
Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men: in whose hands is mischief and their right hand is full of bribes.
But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the Lord.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
One thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me upon a rock.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice; have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When Thou saidst, Seek ye My face: my heart said unto Thee, Thy face Lord, will I seek.
Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thy hast been my help, leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
Teach me Thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Unto Thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me: lest if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto Thee, when I lift up my hands towards Thy holy oracle.
Draw me not away with the wicked and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.
Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavors: give them after the work of their hands render to them their desert.
Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them, and not build them up.
Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of His annointed.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
