Who is Alex Shaw?
As an adult, I spent fifteen years in a Pentecostal church. For thirteen
years I taught children one to eight years old in Sunday school. I took them
on field trips two-three times per month, bought them clothes when they had
none, encouraged them when they were distressed and taught them that Jesus
loves them no matter what. I organized them into a choir, fed them snacks,
taught them crafts and intrigued them back week after week. It took tons of
patience and prayer, but today many of those children still have a love of
God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They also can still quote some of the Bible.
I didn't do any of it for my glory. I did it for the glory of God's name to
be remembered in their soul, to know Him in times of trouble for comfort, and
hopefully to be saved unto Heaven in the end time.
I was called upon in every healing service by the minister for over fourteen
years to come forward and lay hands on those seeking miracles and healing
from God, and combine my prayers and spirit with those that were seeking. The
Bible says if two or three are gathered in My Name (God's) that there I am
also. It also says whatever you loose from Heaven will be loosed upon the
earth. (Released). Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven.
Binding off illness, sorrows, sins and their far-reaching effects, are all
powers that Christians have if they will only use them to defeat the evils
that surround them.
As a result of the minister's confidence in my God-given abilities, many men,
women and teenagers placed their trust in me and I was able to pray with them
and counsel effectively through the power of the Holy Spirit of the Lord
Jesus Christ.
Through prayer and seeking God I received the Holy Spirit gifts spoken of in
I.Corinthians 12:8-12. The word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, the spirit
of discernment, the gift of prophecy, the gift of faith, the gifts of
healing, are God's gifts and it is my opinion that if they are misused they
will quickly vanish. Many times examples of man being defeated by his own ego
are mentioned in the Bible. God is the focus, not me and my ego. I try very
hard never to let my personal ego enter into the work of God. A reading or
discernment of the Holy Spirit is a time of talking with a person about their
soul, life and spirit and where they are going with their life, as we
intercede together, beginning with prayer. Hopefully, we all pray to be led
by God as we invite His Holy Spirit to come and lead the way for wisdom and
understanding.
I finally left the church after the minister began to border on what I call the "lunatic fringe" mentality. He preached "if you are not in this church on Sunday it is a sin," on the last Sunday I went. As the elected treasurer of the church I knew what he meant was that if your money wasn't in this church on Sunday that you were in sin as far as he was concerned.
