Blowing a Kiss to God

Shea

God, Hallelujah!

Blowing a Kiss to God
A few months ago I was spending an evening with my six year old friend, Shea, while his parents attended a business meeting. He preferred to dine at McDonald's that night and I decided to just let him play until his heart's content. When he got tired about an hour later, we headed to the car. I opened his door and stepped back while he got in. He stopped, looked up into the sky, put his palm to his mouth, kissed it and blew this great big kiss and then quietly got into the car.

"Hey Shea, what are you doing?" I asked.

"I was just blowing a kiss to God," he replied.

"That is so cool, Shea, I've never seen anyone blow a kiss to God."

"I do it all the time," he said, shrugging his shoulders.

Flashing through my head I could hear the phrases, "Out of the mouths of babes," and "a little child shall lead them." Sometimes the simplest things escape us. I never thought about giving just a greeting of joy and thankfulness to God for a great time. Shea taught me that even God likes to be included in blessings and not just asked for favors. Since that night I make sure I blow a kiss to God every single day. Thank you, Shea.

God, Hallelujah!
Two of my little nieces, Kate, 3, and Nina, 5, attend Bible Study every Wednesday with their mom, my baby sister Darla. They have learned many Bible verses and songs and love to sing and recite them at home for their parents, Darla and Kenny. One day Darla was telling me how Kate, then 2 1/2, had just learned the song “Glory Hallelujah” and was enjoying singing it at home, but couldn’t quite get the words right.

I kept the two girls for a couple hours the next day and ever so often would start singing “Glory Hallelujah.” Each time I did, Kate-Kate, as she calls herself, would promptly join in to mine and Nina’s delight. I would immediately stop singing to listen to Kate-Kate joyously belt out, “GOD, HALLELUJAH!”

Note from Alex: After hearing about Kate's "God, Hallelujah," every time I start to say "O God" in a plea, I stop & think, I could be as positive as a child and simply offer praise to Him. I've started saying "God, Hallelujah" instead. God in a tiny child's heart, and her open praise for Him, opened up a new perspective for me. A little child shall lead them...
